CUT STONE
Nusantara Cut Stone Mosaics originate as a product of waste from marble and onyx quarries. Pieces chipped from large blocks are cast aside at the quarry. These small pieces of differing shapes and sizes are gathered from the waste piles, cut to a uniform thickness, then assembled on a mesh backing. The finished product is beautiful, durable and completely unique. Each one of a kind piece is expertly assembled by our team of skilled and talented artisans.
ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS
The stones used in Nusantara Cut Stone Mosaics are reclaimed from the waste piles at marble and onyx quarries. The stones are hand cut with diamond tipped saws that are cooled with water that is collected, filtered and reused. The only energy used in the production of our cut stone mosaics is the three horsepower motors used in the saws and the small tumblers we use to soften the edges.
No VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) are used in the manufacturing process. All adhesives used to fix the stones to the mesh backing are very low in toxic emissions. The workplace is pleasant and comfortable with fans and prevailing winds keeping the air in the workplace fresh.
